1. Set your dates and try to stick as close to possible to them, so
your customers receive their products in a timely manner.
2. Run your fundraiser at least 2 weeks, many people may not
have the funds available on first contact, sellers may have to
approach each person twice.
3. Rehearse the sales pitch
4. Have everyone practice your group's sales pitch at home and
school. Have them clearly define your goals and pitch that 50% percent
of every sale goes toward your goal. Make sure that every seller uses it.
5. Ask sellers to make a list of family and friends who may be interested in the
fundraiser before you start, so they have an idea of where to start.
6. Don't forget neighbors they know, and out-of-town contacts or relatives.
Relatives at senior homes, businesses their family frequents, for instance, hair
dressers, dentist, doctor, or veterinarian. Any club or activity relatives may
belong to like, bingo, bible study, book club, senior centers, Elks Club, Knights
of Columbus, local union hall, local veterans, local gym, bowling or motorcycle clubs.
7. Local businesses are often eager to show support for schools and school
activities, have sellers approached their neighborhood businesses and offer
the product to their employees.
8. Have parents help sell products by taking brochures order forms to their workplace.
9. Motivate your sellers with a show of your own enthusiasm.
10. Motivate sellers with our prize program
11. Promote the fundraiser on the school or organizations website.
12. If school club is holding the fundraiser, put up flyers and offer students outside
the club to participate.
13. People will give a more if they know what their giving for. It is important
to state the following on the fundraiser informational letter we provide:
a. The purpose of your fundraiser
b. The duration of your fundraiser
c. The goal you hope to achieve
This will give people a clear incentive to participate. They then know where
the funds are going; band uniforms, class trip, new science equipment etc…
Always emphasize the cause. That's as much of a motivation for people to
buy as the product itself, sometimes even more so.
14. Keep copies of your order forms
15. Have fun, and encourage your sellers to have fun.
